How to read seat availability on RailRoute
RailRoute does not hold inventory and does not sell tickets. Seat status on a search is a snapshot from the moment you searched, shown with the time it was read. The status that counts is the one IRCTC shows at checkout.

RailRoute is an independent service. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Indian Railways, IRCTC, or any Government of India entity. Train names and station codes are used for identification only.
RailRoute does not sell tickets and never takes a payment. Fares are estimates and seat availability changes continuously; the exact fare and the actual booking are confirmed on IRCTC.
What the statuses mean

| AVAILABLE | A confirmed berth is on sale in that class right now. | Yes, with your own berth — if it is still there at checkout. |
| RAC | A ticket that is issued and charted, with a right to board on a berth shared with one other traveller until somebody cancels. | Yes, on a shared berth. |
| WL / GNWL / PQWL etc. | A place in a queue. Not a ticket to travel unless it confirms before the chart is prepared. | Not unless it confirms. |
| Unchecked | No seat status was available for this train on this search. | Unknown — check at IRCTC. |
What RailRoute will not do
- Guarantee a berth. Availability moves continuously.
- Predict whether a waitlist will clear.
- Print “confirmed” over RAC or a waitlist.
- Show seat status on cached train, station or route pages, where it would look current and not be.
Where to see it
Run a search, or open a route page and pick a date. When nothing on a train is bookable, other tickets may still be.
